DOOMED????

Where will we be in 10 years? Ever think about it? What will things be like? Besides a phone that converts into a toilet what else will we see. It's a funny world that places individual conveniences before the starving and needy. Opps, I didn't mean that we're not trying now to make a better world.

Take for instance alternative education. We have alternative schools that are by law available to any student put out of their regular school. A great idea that is designed to meet the needs of those who break laws by bring weapons or drugs to school or ganging up on each other to fight at school. GOOD GRIEF! WHERE ARE WE GOING WRONG WITH THIS!?

Students shouldn't fight at school. Students fight at school because they don't have transportation to get a locations where they can fight. Parents should take students to a central location where they can fight this would prevent them taking advantage of the transportation provided them to get to school. Let's be real, if they can get to the games, movies, malls, and formals surely the parents can provide transportation for them to a location to fight so they won't fight at school and get sent to the alternative school.

Students should not bring or use drugs at school. Here again, Parents should be more involved in their child's drug use and efforts to sale drugs at school. Evidently parent provide a place for the drugs to be kept at home so students should be able to sale drugs and use their drugs at home. That will prevent them from using drugs at school or saleing drugs at school and being sent to the alternative school.

Students should be respectful to teachers and administrators. (Please note that I didn't say treat the teachers and administrators as well as their parents.) If parents would speak respectfully to persons they come in contact with and treat their children with dignity and worth when they are growing up this might change.

Any way, how bout that "green house gas thing." I read someplace that their was a study, government study at that, indicating the affect of cows farting has on the ozone layer. DON'T TELL ME THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT TRYING TO MAKE A BETTER WORLD.

Oh my, cancer. The news reported that most forms of cancer are preventable. Suprise, suprise to those smokers out there.

Economic problems? Please, can't we just print up a few trillion dollars each year. Who needs a lottery anyway.

I've been told that over 30,000 children die each day from preventable diseases. Nothing that some clean water and a few medical vaccinations would cure. So what's the hold up?!?! Let me think that might be 4 or 5 tanks.

What about the dreadful peanut scare??? When are we going to take care of that? It's going to take a lot more that a recipe contest to get people to believe in that heavenly paste again.

well, it all comes down to the one thought than shouts balance in this world. The one true proclamation that never changes.

GOD IS GOD AND WE ARE NOT.

WHY ARE WE BANKRUPT?
OH! Now I understand!!!
You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this: Boy, was I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS.

Won't somebody help me?!

Ever needed help and couldn't get anyone to help you?

What did you need? Was it something that you really needed help with or something you just wanted help with?

Was it something you might could handle yourself but would be easier with some help?

I'm finding that most of the stuff that I need help with I can handle myself. It's one of those "take the first step on your own" things. It's like learning to ride the bike. A little help maybe what you need but if you want to bad enough, you'll get the hang of it.

I'm afraid that our citizenship is at a point that we feel the government is suppose to take care of us. The more you expect someone to provide and take care of you the more you become dependant on that person or entity.

CHECK IT OUT.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

The truth is out there!

For all the scientists out there, and for all the students who have a hard time convincing these smart people regarding the truth of the Bible, here's something that shows God's awesome creation, and that He is still in control.

Did you know that the space program is busy proving that what has been called 'myth' in the Bible is true?

Mr. Harold Hill, President of the Curtis Engine Company in Baltimore, Maryland, and a consultant in the space program, states the following development. 'I think one of the most amazing things that God has done for us today happened recently to our astronauts and space scientists at Green Belt, Maryland . They were checking out where the positions of the sun, moon, and planets would be 100 years and 1,000 years from now. We have to know this so we won't send up a satellite and have it bump into something later on in its orbits. We have to lay out the orbits in terms of the life of the satellite and where the planets will be so the whole thing will not bog down. They ran the computer measurement back and forth over the centuries, and it came to a halt. The computer stopped and put up a red signal, which meant that there was something wrong with either the information fed into it or with the results as compared to the standards. They called in the service department to check it out, and they said, 'What's wrong?' Well, they found there is a day missing in space in elapsed time. They scratched their heads and tore their hair out. There was no answer. Finally a Christian man on the team said, 'You know, one time I was in Sunday School, and they talked about the sun standing still.' While they didn't believe him, they didn't have an answer either, so they said, 'Show us, ' He got a Bible and went to the book of Joshua where they found a pretty ridiculous statement for any one with 'common sense.' There they found the Lord saying to Joshua, 'Fear them not, I have delivered them into thy hand; there shall not a man of them stand before Thee.' Joshua was concerned because he was surrounded by the enemy! And if darkness fell, they would over power them. So Joshua asked the Lord to make the sun stand still! That's right... 'The sun stood still and the moon stayed and lasted not to go down about a whole day!' (Joshua 10:12-13) The astronauts and scientists said, There is the missing day! They checked the computers going back into the time it was written and found it was close but not close enough. The elapsed time that was missing back in Joshua's day was 23 hours and 20 minutes. not a whole day. They read the Bible, and there it was about [approximately] a day. These little words in the Bible are important, but they were still in trouble because if you cannot account for 40 minutes, you'll still be in trouble 1000 years from now. Forty minutes had to be found because it can be multiplied many times over in orbits. As the Christian employee thought about it, he remembered somewhere in the Bible where it said the sun went BACKWARDS. The scientists told him he was out of his mind, but they got out the Book and read these words in 2 Kings that told of the following story: Hezekiah, on his death bed, was visited by the prophet Isaiah who told him that he was not going to die. Hezekiah asked for a sign as proof. Isaiah said 'Do you want the sun to go ahead 10 degrees?' Hezekiah said, 'It is nothing for the sun to go ahead 10 degrees, but let the shadow return backward 10 degrees.'Isaiah spoke to the Lord, and the Lord brought the shadow ten degrees BACKWARD!Ten degrees is exactly 40 minutes!' Twenty-three hours and 20 minutes in Joshua, plus 40 minutes in Second Kings make the missing day in the universe! Isn't it amazing? References: Joshua 10:8 and 12, 13 and 2 Kings 20:9-11.

If God could do this then, how much more can He do for us today. If we only believe in His Word.

Cheaters

I hate cheaters.

Although I live with the idea that there are no living human being that have not cheated at one time or another. I remember in 4th grade having a test on the continents. I thought I knew them but I wasn't taking a chance. I took a little globe pencil sharpener with me to class and although it was very hard to read I got all the answers from that little globe. In the great scheme of things it wasn't much but it was wrong and now I wish I hadn't. It is so easy to cheat when every one around you is cheating. My philosophy of cheating now is it is like loosing weight. If you cheat, you only hurt yourself, that is unless you are on that TV show, I forget... "Larger vs Largest".

After saying that I want you to think about those that cheat you. Maybe some scheme to get your money or something you have that they want. Those are the kind of folk that you want to hurt by super gluing their legs together.

There are some people that go even farther with their cheating. I call them "Gigantus Cheatus." They cheat you out of a piece of the good in life. Things that could have been great experiences, loving moments, and good memories. Those kinda of things that you can't buy at any price.

There is one person that I have in my life that has cheated me out of what could have been a great relationship. You know you can't buy those things, relationships. They are mutual covenants between two people that are unique because of who you are. They have their highs and lows, but through out the entire relationship there is a love that always "comes to the top."

So what do you do about those kind of cheaters. You can either give in and be absorbed into a relationship that sucks you dry with blame, accusations, or envy or you can cut that snakes head off. Don't expect anything and surely don't give what you don't have to. Separate yourself from that person and live live live!!!

PASTOR'S ASS

The Pastor's Ass
The pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won. The pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the race again, and it won again. The local paper read: PASTOR'S ASS OUT FRONT.
The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the Pastor not to enter the donkey in another race. The next day, the local paper headline Read: BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ASS.
This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent. The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day: NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN.
The bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for $10. The next day the paper read: NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10.
This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild.
Next day the headlines read NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE.
The bishop was buried the next day.
The moral of the story is . .. Being concerned about public opinion can bring you much grief and misery . . even shorten your life. So be yourself and enjoy life. Stop worrying about everyone else's ass and you'll be a lot happier and live longer!

Rave, The Honored Few

I'm starting one of those things that I guess you might call a theme. I will entitle this theme "Rays of the Real Bobby Walden". Sorry I'm open to suggestions if you have any.

RAY ONE:

Seems to me that there are some folks that think they are more special than we are. They have that "their stuff don't smell" attitude. Yes, I did say it in a different way than you have heard it before but I'm trying to be niece. Those folk will surely be forgotten after a little while but there are those who will never fade from memory. These are some of the "Folk" that I think will never fade away from my bestest memories. Those who made a difference... Let's say 10 or so, OK? Here are the rules: 1. No cartoon characters. (Da) 2. Real life people that I actually spent time with.

1. Katherine Gibson - Lady from my church that cared for me when I was right out of college. A real lover of people, a real giver of her time and gifts. I love "Ma Gibson."
2. Johnny Wharton - a man that showed me about leadership without having to say a thing. Father of great men, husband to a great woman. He knew God in a personal way. Gone now.
3. H. L. Hutcherson - a man that lived a life of prayer. An example of a Godly man for everyone who had the chance to spend time with him. Gone now.
4. Coach Charles Shira - Head Football Coach at Mississippi State 1970. A man that could impact you by making a single statement. Gone now. I respected him in a large way.
5. Coach Bob Stevens - Football Coach at Central High School 67-70. A man that believed in me when I was just a fat guy who thought he could play football. I respect him greatly.
6. Ms. Payne - English teacher, Central High School. Lady that help me learn to read more than any other teacher I ever had. I love Ms. Payne.
7. Fred Davis - Quarterback at Central High School 66-69 and Defensive back at Mississippi State 69-73. This guy stood up for Christ and gave his testimony at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) in 1967 where I gave my life to Christ. He became one of my best friends because he took time to help me grow spiritually. He walked the walk. What a man.
8. Bobby Parks - closest thing I ever had to a brother. Invested a large part of his life in Africa growing God's army. Accepted me where I was and didn't ask a lot of stupid questions. I'm so proud to know him. I love Bobby. Glory to God.
9. Ron Mumbower - good friend and personal counselor. This man is the most hyperactive adult I've ever known. The wisest guy I have ever met that always points to Christ and the proper solution to life's questions that seem unanswerable. A guy that sets the bar high because he knows if he didn't you might settle for something less than what you can do. I love Ron. He has saved my life 3 times. GLORY!.
10. Byron Malone ("Heavy") - the closest thing I've ever had to a Daddy. The greatest preacher I've ever hear. This man demonstrated how to be a great man of God and built a great family who love God. The greatest friend I ever had. The most Godly man I've ever known. Gone now. I loved him greatly and still do. So much I cry when I think of him. The thought that I let him down in some way burdens my soul. The man's influence will continue for ever because of his wonderful children and wife, BJ. WOW, what a family. Greatest influence I've ever seem. He would have loved "Omar learns to shoot"

Omar learns to shoot

This a 5 on the Hose Japa rating scale.

LITTLE BROTHER

Ok, if you have a brother or sister you'll appreciate this. Seems like it is fact of life that there is always a story about the brother or sister that is "na na boo boo". This is one all can enjoy. I'd be the little brother in this one.

Black History Programs

You might talk with some folk who express their displeasure with Black History programs. Well, I'm one of those but for a different reason than most folk would think with their "first thought." I'm called a racist at least 3 or 4 times a month because I issue consequences for poor behavior and don't give in to people who want things their way but I'll stand on my record and my relations with black folk as well as white folk. So I'd like to share some of my basic beliefs as they relate to black folk and black history programs.

1. FACT: black folk, as US History goes have been done a great injustice. No one should be force into a life of slavery, no one should be forced to serve any one without proper reward. Even with that no one should be allowed to become a slave to anything that keeps them from being all they can be.

2. FACT: there is but one true God. His word tells us to love others as we would love our selves.

3. FACT: there is only one National Anthem. It is meant for all Americans no matter what color. The fact that you would select an additional national anthem indicates to me that "THE" United States of America is not good enough for your group whether it is because of your color or religion or shoe size. I kinda feel like inserting the "America. Love It or Leave It" bumper sticker here. "Lift Up Every Voice" is a beautiful song but National Anthem????

4. FACT:Black children need role models to look up to and they shouldn't all be sports figures or musical stars. Where are the fathers? Where are the successful black figures when the youth are walking the streets at night when they should be in the bed alone sleeping in preparation for getting their education. Step up to the plate or loose an entire generation.

5. FACT: our government has place the largest chain around our black children by providing them with "checks" that are almost never used in the way they are intended. The United States of American has placed a dependence on black people that is as dependent as "crack" and as the affect probably more long lasting. Welfare?? If a person doesn't work for what they get then they will never work to get what they need.

These are just a few of my beliefs but how about the way many organizations approach Black History programs.

1. All of our children not just black ones, have not been taught to behave in any kind of program. Their attention is elsewhere. Whether they just want to make fun of their friends on stage, play with their phones or just chat to the person 4 rows over. Of course those who are "monitoring" these kids are at the point that they are afraid to say anything to them because of their behavior towards them of their parents behavior towards them. The apple don't fall to far from the tree.

2. Programs should be "short", to the point and be done. "You lost them" after the 4th poem.

3. Be sensitive to the entire audience. To make some stupid statement about white folk when they are sitting in a Black History program because they choose to be apart of a profession that doesn't pay them what they are worth, in a profession where they are abused by parents and students daily, well character is hard to hide.

4. Shouldn't we be teaching black history daily along with white, yellow, red, and blue history. How about teaching human history instead of categorizing special groups.

Please don't forget to honor all tribes of the earth, but please don't put me down because I'm white and you are another color until you know where I come from and what's inside my heart. I think when you look into my heart you'll like what you see and things won't be just a matter of color.

Churchill or Roosevelt? Do you know who said that and Why?

We all face challenges in life, all of us no matter who we are. Those that think they are "hard" and don't are liars and will probably be a failure if not already experience failure. I've learned that the best way to overcome fear is to gain in knowledge. Example, snakes, oh yea, it's in your head now right. Most folk I know fear the little crawly things. I took a young friend from my church to scout out a location for a little retreat one spring. As we walked back to the car with thoughts in our heads of this beautiful little creek area and the potential for a great experience for our youth my friend froze in his tracks. I was right beside him in a some what safer spot in this world. Right in front of his right foot was a small rattle snake. The warm weather had brought this little guy out. I guess it was a reflex but I pull the blade from the sabut on my back. I usually carried a large blade with me any time I was in the woods. I quickly dismissed the rattler from this world. Not much to me but I thought I was going to get a bar and prior my friend loose and to this day he claims I saved his life. Needless to say he walked slower and more cautious the remainder of the trail back. I recognized the snake but knew there wasn't much danger because of the time of year and the weather. Sure danger was present, a snake that is very poisonous, but my KNOWLEDGE of snakes gave me an edge.

Lots of things we face are like snakes, they cast fear into us, they paralyze us, they keep us from getting to where we need to be. To overcome those fears we have to learn about them, gain knowledge about them. How does that happen? YOU GOT ME!

Not really, just kidding. You read, study, experience, and ask those who have read, studied, and experienced that fear of . It not an age thing either. Young or old, we all face fears.

When I was a youngun I was afraid of the dark. I guess that was because I saw a ghost in my hall one night. Really, no joke. Thank God for those covers on my bed that protected me that night. I'm not afraid of the dark any more but I still respect it because it covers up a lot of dangerous things like the edge of the coffee table. I remember when my first daughter was very young and fell out of her bed. She "sounded her alarm" and I ran to her room which was across the entire house. Full speed sprint, leaving her mother in my dust. Now as you know I'm not a little person but I didn't touch one thing on the way. Not the couch, not a table, lamp, door, heck I'm not sure I touched the carpet. My experience at moving through the house so many times lead me that night. My mind knew what was where and I was not. Boo-ya! I impress myself sometimes.

Anyway the title, "nothing but fear itself", is from Roosevelt and relates the the big war, WWII. The war my dad was in, the one that my uncle died in, the war to end all wars. He used it to address our nation. To encourage America because he knew tough times were ahead. People were going to die, sacrifces were going to have to be made by most if not all. The fears that would come could be overcome because of what we were. A great nation with a great heritage that stood for things that were right and just.

Another man said this "fear not for I have overcome, defeated, smashed and 'busted up' this world". He also said "in this world you, my children, will experience trials and fears and doubts but remember, always remember, I have overcome, defeated, smashed, and 'busted up' this world and will always be here with you." (Walden paraphrase) That guy is my father. I am a child of the KING, the CREATOR, the SUPPLIER, the MOST HIGH GOD, The LORD JESUS CHRIST. And that a good thing.

WOW! Glory to God

Perfect fit.

There are tasks in this world that take just the right person to perform them. Handling "nutty" people is one of those tasks. I live very close to a real "Weird Nut", OK I sleep in the same skin as he does.

I've been aware of my weirdness for a long time and actually embraced it but the nutty side of me hasn't been out for very long.

I talked with this guy yesterday that is a perfect fit to the task of pointing the "Nutty Folk" of life in the right directions. This guy is so good that you can go to him and say nothing and he'll read you mind. Yep, slap read yo mind. Then he'll ask you a question that seems to have nothing to do with anything and "BAM" you are telling him deep dark secrets and get this, he knows the answers to stupid stuff that has never made sense to you. I'd say he is a perfect fit to his job.

Of course some of us look at a fit as a gift that a higher power arranged for us before there were gifts. I kinda been looking for a fit for a long time. I think I'm good at what I do and that comes as a result of a long career and a memory full a lot of mistakes that should not be repeated. A lot of "lines drawn in the sand" and a lot of standing for what is right. After 35 years plus working with children and adults and now with those more challenged than the average, I face a very large decision. That being when is the right time to "retire." A good friend gave me an unforgettable statement yesterday as I shared about my thought of leaving this career. The statement was "don't worry about those you'll leave behind but pray for God to send a person who will fit your position with the same devotion and standard."

GOOD GRIEF! Why have I not thought about this before. The person that will take care of those of need that come by me will be a perfect fit. Sorta like the Master Creator made them perfectly for this position. A PERFECT FIT. GLORY.

RANT SOME MO!

Ranting is becoming one of those things that I can't get away from, but I promise I'm not doing it out loud. SO, give me a little bit of credit.

Who are you cheating if you don't complete tasks that are apart of your JOB. I think it is a matter of perspective. If you can live with it, it really doesn't matter. If you can't live with it then you'll probably say the boss, company, etc...

This brings me to "Walden's Rules of the JOB."

Number 1: Whose getting paid. If you take the job then you're getting paid. So do the job. If you aren't doing your best you are stealing.
Number 2: If you say, you will then just do it. There is nothing greater than a person's word. As a man thinks, so is he. Character is hard to hide.
Number 3: If you work hard today then the day will come when you will be doing more in the same amount of time and getting paid more for it. The average mentality says, the amount of time to do a job is directly proportionate to the time you're given to get it done. The Walden Philosophy is "work your butt off and then rest." Get some water when you need it but then get back to it.
Number 4: The better you do it, the more attention you get. The key to advancement is to get noticed.
Number 5: The old saying "it's not what you know but who you know" is true only if you know someone. See rule 4.
Number 6: Excuses are like "rear ends". Everybody has one and they all stink! Except responsibility and move on, don't make excuses about why you can't do it. If you can't do it then it's the wrong job for you or you are wrong for the job.
Number 7: Never, never, never give up. Remember the turtle and the rabbit race. Keep on keeping on. Remember your dreams. They do come true.
Number 8: Mistakes are good things. They can point you in the right direction to success.
Number 9: Mistakes are bad. Read the directions.
Finally the rule that all rules fall on and come up from.
Number 10: What ever you do, any time you do it, do it like the boss is watching. That of course is the Walden paraphrase for a scripture that says "do all to the glory of the LORD."

Who is cheating who? That's up to you.

The Bible In a Nutshell

I love it when the truth comes out of a child's mouth and it isn't directed at me. One of my sweeties was baby sitting recently when one of the little girls asked her if she was pregnant, OPPS. Not close but appearances can be deceiving.

Anyway a cheerful heart does the soul good. You all are going to love this paraphrase of the Bible. Through the eyes of a child:
The Children's Bible in a Nutshell
In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.
Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did.
Then God made the world.
He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.
Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden.
Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.
Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel.
Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.
One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.
After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.
Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.
God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments.
These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff.
Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.
One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town.
After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.
After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets.
One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore. There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.
After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of The New. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')
During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats.
Jesus also had twelve opossums.
The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.
Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount.
But the Democrats and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.
Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again.
He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

It didn't have to be that way.

I'm a little fired up because of a conference I've had today with a parent. Picture this, a child is placed repeatedly in a care facility for behavior problems. So much he ends up being 16 years of age when he is released. This is to old to be in middle school so he is put in high school. Then he is sent to an alternative school for not going to school ( who would want to got to a school where everything was over your head). When problems continue, the parent finally comes to the school to find out what is wrong. What is wrong? Must be the teacher or the principal right? Of course right, in her eyes because she "believes" what her child tells her happens in the school she has never been in. 45 minutes is wasted in a discussion with an outcome that has already been decided on by the parent. Opps, I forgot to give you some details about the child and parent. The child doesn't live with the mother but 4 years ago lived with the grandmother who died of cancer. Now he lives with the dad most of the time. Most. Of course there are 5 brothers and sisters. Who do they live with? Not mom, not dad. Mom and dad are not married but three of the 5 are theirs together. (I know what causes dem babies.) Dad does work and works two jobs. DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN?!?!? Absolutely NOT. Mom and dad could have shown some restraint when the battle of hormones was taking place. Mom and dad could have spent more time with the kid when he needed them growing up, instead of wherever they were. They could spend more time with him now. They could have prevented him from being around the people that gave him the "dope", grass, weed that got him sent to the alternative school in the 5th grade. DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN???? NO! What can I do about it? Very little.

Truck Monkey

I like video stuff. Especialy when it involves one of favorite actors, "Michael T Chimparelli." See if you agree.

Special RECIPE!

Ever get up one morning and know that the day is going to be one of those wasted days. You know, the kind that you only get a pay check for being present, that is if you have a job. The kind of day that you remember from a past date but wish had never happened. Like "the day" that you threw up on the girl next to you in Ms. Bennett's class. Maybe "the day" that you got blamed for some one writing on the board when the teacher was out of class. Maybe "the day" when an 8th grader came on campus with a loaded 38 and pointed at your head. How bout "the day" you got a call that your dad died and you had to leave work ASAP. "The day" that you didn't go home will always be in your memory. There are days that you can feel "it", feel it hard. The "it" can only be described as despair, no wait maybe hopelessness, wait it's loneliness, oh yea worthlessness that's "it". Well what ever "it" happens to be you know that feeling. What ever "it" happens to be that day "it" is real. "It" is there and "it" is what it is.

That "it" affects everything that is around you. Seems like "it" is an absolute energy that takes control of every effort and event for the time "it" has you. GOOD GRIEF! "It" really sounds like an all powerful force that we are at the mercy of, completely out of our control. Maybe.

There are things out there that are strong against any attack. There are three. One is Prayer, that continuous conversation with the creator of the universe. Two is Love. Love doesn't have to be a two way thing. Three is silence. What?

So I guess it is best to face each day with a prayerful mind, a loving heart, and a closed mouth.

BEAUITFUL WOMEN

Girls Think Men Are Happier

Men Are Just Happier People - What do you expect from us when,
Our last name stays put. The garage is all ours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. We can be the President. We can never be pregnant. We can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. We can wear NO shirt to a water park. Car mechanics tell us the truth. The world is our urinal. We never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. We don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. We do the same work, for more pay. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress $5000. Tux rental-$100. People never stare at our chest when you're talking to them. New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle our feet. One mood all the time. Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. We know stuff about tanks and old army stuff. A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. We can open all your own jars. We get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite us, he or she can still be your friend. Our underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Three pairs of shoes are more than enough. We almost never have strap problems in public and if we do we just fix it. We are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on our face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. We only have to shave your face and neck, and that's not mandatory. We can play with toys all our lives. One wallet and one pair of shoes - one color, any color, for all seasons. We can wear shorts no matter how our legs look. We can 'do' your nails with a pocket knife or a good set of teeth. We have freedom of choice concerning growing a moustache. We can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes. Is it no wonder men are happier than those other people?

HOW LONG!?

OK, (RANT) What's up with those doctor's appointments that are scheduled for 1:00 and it is 3:47 before you get into weight yourself. GOOD GRIEF! Is it me? or has this ever happened to you? Don't lie Pinocchio. It has happened to all of us unless your dad is the doctor and then I bet it still happens to you too. It is that someone, Mr. Doctor, has decided to come in late. Another helping of grits and eggs and sausage and biscuits and Captain Crunch????? Maybe the grand daughter is in a program that you forgot about or your wife reminded you about. Of course you want a place to go home to after your busy day at the office so what your wife says goes right. What about what that "Hippieratic pledge" thing. Oh, forget about that 62 year old lady that puked in her nova on the way to get some relief at the DOCTOR'! Please, just tell me when I call if you aren't going to be able to get all 19 hundred patients in for the schedule 1:00 - 3:42 appointment times! Are you doing a heart transplant or something back there. Don't you realize that sick people come to your office. The doctor's office is one of those places that you go to with one disease and leave with six! Never mind that they are free! Oh I get it. This is one of those perpetual things to keep the cash flow going, come in sick get more sick. Doesn't have to be the same illness just sick. Well, this "RANT" is for you. Those doctors that don't have to wait in the waiting room 2 hours and 42 minutes for a 10 minute diagnoses and a "well,it's going around" medical opinion.

Living Will.

I, Bobby Walden being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means. Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of pinhead politicians who couldn't pass ninth grade biology if their lives depended on it, or lawyers/doctors interested in simply running up the bills. If a reasonable amount of time passes and I fail to ask for at least one of the following:Cherry Cheesecake, A Coke, A piece of cake, Sex, Blue berry Cheese cake, Chicken fried steak, Cream gravy, Sex, Mexican food, Chocolate, French fries, Strawberry Cheesecake, Pizza, Sex, Ice cream, "any" Cheesecake or "any" Cheesecake. Sex...Cheesecake. It should be presumed that I won't ever get better. When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my appointed person and attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes, let the 'fat lady sing,' and call it a day!

Almost Home.

Well, the plan is for the group to get a little more sight seeing and then da plan. We all meet at "Seven Mile Beach" to finally see the "beach". Of course Libby and I had been there already but that was fine too. Looks like everybody is at the holiday celebration down town. They have some kind of holiday every month and this one was called "Heroes" holiday. There was no shortage of holidays and certainly no shortage of those who would celebrate. Well, after a nice walk on the beach and a few more purchases, right LIBBY! I did some interviews with my camera. BIG FUN! I did some with a big boat full of folk going snorkeling. The Cutie girl was from South Africa. Seeing the world going from place to place. She is coming to the USA next.

I checked out the people on the boat. These guys were from all over. Some from I don't know where because they would tell me in a language I could understand, how rude. There were some from a country known as "Peensyvania", never been there before, but it must have been very cold from what they said.

OK, load up and to da plane. Check in and customs was smooth and the duty free shops were interesting. Lunch was another island delight, HOT DOG! Good Grief! Anyway up and away to Atlanta USA. Right over Cuba, I asked. It made me want to good back and flush the toilet over Castro's house but I didn't. That reminds me of one big disappointment of the trip. I forgot to go to the air toilet. Never done that and who knows i may have missed out now. Libby says that I said I would go to New York on another mission trip, I'm not sure when I did that but I don't argue with the boss. That may give me another chance at the air toilet. Not that I could actually make a profession of faith there but I could at least take a look. Anyway, customs in Atlanta was much more interesting. especially since I had brought back some giant seed pods that came from Gram's yard. (Hey Gram) Not like the kind in those science fiction movies, but pretty big, like 18". I confessed to having them and therefore our bags were searched and the pods taken. I had an interesting talk with the ladies that did the searching and that was fun but lost my pods, right. NO! when I got home and unpacked there was one left. I know that sweet lady left me one, I just know it and come spring I will plant a tree in her honor and of course Gram's.

You notice I haven't mentioned the bump da dump any more. I are a "veteran plane rider" now and i hardly notice the dump da dump when we arrived to the "air plant" Jackson, Mississippi. Home but already missing Beth, Reggie, Max, Rico, and all my Caymanian Friends. Maybe God will allow me to go back some day and see them again. Maybe make a dive, who knows.

God bless those of the Cayman Islands and the Cayman Baptist Church. Thank you my friends. I've left a piece of my heart with you.

LOVE BIG BOB.

I can run but not hide.

Well, I think I have shared before that I suffer with depression. It's a disease. I haven't found a cure but I have tried to find some relief by reading and asking professionals questions. I take some medications but that is only a temporary thing. With depression you never know when things will change. You may be fine one minute and the next, well it is like driving late at night in an area where there are no lights. There is a little fog which puts you on alert but one minute your lights are reaching into the darkness and you feel confident about where you are going and then BAM! the fog gets heavy and a wall of white comes up in front of you. You know the road is there but for how far. That uneasiness sets in and doubts flood you entirely. It's not easy to describe depression because it affects folk differently.

I discovered that I had depression in 1993, when I was forced to be acting principal at Wingfield high school. For those of you that are that old or forgot, that is the school where the world thought Bishop Knox was suspended from duties for allowing the students to pray over the intercom when in all actuality he was suspended for not following directives from the superintendent. It was a very tough time and that is when I was diagnosed with depression and given medication to help. I realized at that time that I had experienced depression for a long time. I gave up a year of eligibility to play football at State because of depression. I had contemplated suicide when I was in college because of depression. I missed a lot of good relationships in college because of depression. There's this commercial on TV that says "who does depression hurt? Everybody." Just in the last year my thoughts of being worthless and a problem for my family lead to me making a plan and trying to follow through with that plan to end my life. I've hurt the ones I love most because of depression. I take medicines for depression. I go to a counselor, who has saved my life twice. I pray about my depression several times a day.

Now if there is a cure I haven't found it but the struggle goes on to live a life experiencing some joy and peace. My joy comes from doing good stuff and serving others but most from those who I love most in this world.

I'm a person of faith. I love Jesus Christ with my heart. I want more of Christ every day, but even that seems to be hindered by an emotional clamp. Depression can be a real "hell" in this world for anyone who experiencing it. It is one of those things that you can run from but you can't hide. It is a constant battle that has to be fought and the battles are filled with strategies to keep those that you love most from suffering along with you.

Comfort comes from those who love me and in my faith knowing that Christ is sufficient for all our needs.

Sunday Morning in the Caymans

Awake and ready for worship at the Caymans Baptist Church. We arrive early because the "One Voice" group had to practice some. I felt a little sad because this was a mission trip and I hadn't done anything that to me was "mission-like". I decided that if there was not anything else for me to do I could welcome people to church, so I did. Great time! met lots of folk and from all kind of places. South Africa, Canada, Philippines, Cuba, England, Missouri to name a few. Really fun. Now I hadn't counted on the temperature and the fancy pants I had on having a conflict but when i went bad into the church I had great big wet spots down my thighs. Good Grief! It looked like I'd had a wet baby on my lap! I could just imagine what I looked like from the back, which is where most folk could see me from. Good service, Chuck Kelly did the message. He's from the New Orleans Seminary. I gave him a 7.6 over all. The thing that impressed me most was the opening prayer that was given by a man known by all members and who was a founder. There was nothing special about his words but you could see this man's heart as he walked to the stage. One tear, then another came down his face and as he pray a blessing on that new building the tears rolled down his face. You could see the miracle in his face. GLORY! I tell you there was not a greater message given in word or song than the one that this man gave as he opened his heart up for all to see. WOW, GLORY TO GOD!

OK, off to lunch with Beth, our hostess, and "Gram" her mother. Such a sweet lady. You could see where Beth got her sweet spirit from. Lunch was dynamite. There wasn't anything that wasn't wonderful. Gram made real homemade mac and cheese! It was great. I hadn't had anything that good in a long time. Beth's brother and wife were there too and they are some fine folk. I tell you I haven't met anyone that was not a nice person and the love of that faith family was so strong and visible. After lunch Beth took us back to her house and we walked to "Seven Mile Beach." This beach had sand, well some sand and a whole bunch of native type people playing volley ball! at least 5 games going on at that one time. I walked out a ways in the water and COLD! well, not that cold. Probably 72 but wow beautiful water. If you stepped on the rock you knew it. Tough on the feet, real tough. On the way we saw a bright green iguana crossing the rode. I can't get over the iguanas and chichens that just wander around. They say you can eat both, both! Well, I guess if you put enough ketsup on something anyone will eat it, maybe not.

Back for the concert and it went well, but the Caymans Baptist Church is maintaining the baptist tradition of having most of the congregation staying home on sunday nights.

After the concert we were back at Beth's to enjoy more fellowship and to pack because tomorrow we would be headed back to the reality of Mississippi.
