SALUTE!
Salute to those that make a difference!
Today I salute Ms. Payne, my 11th grade English teacher. Wonderful lady who care for me and every other student she ever had. She always started class with her own style commentary of something happening around "us." Once she talked about Janis Joplin, a very cool singer from my "day." One of my favorites noted for her profanity and filthy mouth, but a groovy singer. Ms. Payne always place an importance on reading and had a regular monthly sale of books that she would order. It was encouraging to me to hear her say something good about me buying books. I think she thought I was actually reading them. Well, I actually was trying to read but I was having problems with reading. Through my coach, Coach Bob Stevens, and Ms. Payne i had some tests made and discovered that one of my eyes was a little screwy. One eye was looking at the line I was reading while the other was about half a line down, therefore making it difficult to concentrate and made me feel like a dog on a summer afternoon looking for the shade tree to nap under. It it hadn't been for Ms. Payne I might never had found the love I have for reading and did as well as I did in high school and went on to be the only person in my family to go to college.
Ms. Payne is one of those rare teachers that make you more than you are because she believes you are and helps you believe you are.
I love Ms. Payne. Thank you Ms. Payne.
SALUTE!!! TO MS. PAYNE.

Are we lost or what?
.
The WORD of God tells us that we should PRAY always. Well, it does say that although it really means we should be aware of GOD every moment of life. Prayer is a part of many of our most sacred traditions. Saying the blessing before eating a meal teaches our children to recognize God as our supplier. So many more traditions are painted by the sacred Christian act of prayer but now, but now! BUT NOW WHAT!!!
.
In 1952 President Truman established one day a year as a National Day of Prayer.
In 1988, President Reagan designated the first Thursday in May of each year as the National Day of Prayer. This year however, President Obama, decided to cancel the ceremony at the White House not wanting to offend anyone. Presidential candidate Barack Obama declared the USA was no longer a Christian nation.
Now see if you can wrap your brain around this: On September 25, 2009 from 4am until 7pm, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion will be held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House. They are expecting over 50,000 muslims that day in DC. The website (yes, there is a very informative website) is: www..islamoncapitolhill.com Pay particular attention to the very bottom of the page: "OUR TIME HAS COME". Could it be that the REAL agenda of the President is becoming more plain? The evidence is there.

The scripture verse in 2 Chronicles 7:14 says "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." ..... this becomes more important each day.
Well, I've never been in politics but I guess the time to stand up is now.
IF NOT NOW WHEN!
.
My new question to ponder is "WHY?"

WHERE THERE IS A WILL THERE'S A WAY.

With the economy being as it is some families are being forced to make concessions to family traditions, but you can't keep a southern family from celebrating Labor Day in style.

Old Story, New Lesson

I love those fable things. You know stories with life lessons that has to do with every one but you. here's a twist on the one about the Ant and the Grass Hopper. Just if you were wondering... I'm a "Ant Hopper."

OLD VERSION:
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION:
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving. CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.' Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant 's house where the news stations film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.' Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake. Nancy Pelosi & John Kerry exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bug sand, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government. The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ants food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow. The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2010.

Gentleman and Ladies start you fund raising!
What a deal or what's the deal?
Read some interesting information about the "Cash for Clunkers Program" that some one on the Obama came up with. It's really going to save us a lot of money. Right?!

Leaders from the independent aftermarket were among the most vocal against the program, and they continue to be so after the fact. As, CARQUEST's Pete Kornafel, chairman of the GAAS scholarship committee, writes:Here's some math from your stories ballyhooing the fact that the average clunker got 15 mpg and the average replacement gets 25.· A vehicle at 15 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 800 gallons a year of gasoline.

· A vehicle at 25 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 480 gallons a year.
· So, an average clunker transaction reduces U.S. gasoline consumption by320 gallons per year.
· The total is about 700,000 vehicles - so that's 224 million gallons/year.
· That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.
· 5 million barrels of oil is about ¼ of one day's U.S. consumption.
· And, 5 million barrels of oil costs about $350 million dollars at $75/bbl.
· So, we all contributed to spending $3 billion to save $350 million.
How good a deal was that???

Hey Pop!
Today I wanted to say something about my Pop. The thought came to my mind after hearing a staff member talking about his mother not "knowing she is in the world." My Pop never lost his mind. He always knew who I was, even to the day before the night he died. I've begun to see the image of my Pop when i look in the mirror. I think it is suppose to be that way, but it is a little spooky. I had a good dad although there were things I wish he had done differently. OK, maybe a lot of things, some I won't mention, but maybe one of the top things I wish he would have done differently would be talking to me. Not just talking to me but talking TO, with, me. I guess my Pop said more in what he did than what he said. He wasn't very educated and his opinions were in concrete. I wish my Pop had told me more about his growing up and my grandfather. My Pop never said "I love you boy" much but I never doubted it.
I love my Pop but I'd really enjoyed talking to him more.
OBAMA MAMA, THE TRUTH???

Let me get this straight.

Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it and whose members will be exempt from it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a treasury secretary who did not pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that is broke.

What could possibly go wrong? Is this what happens to you have a "Chia" developed about you???
