Merry Xmas from Target!!
Wasn't it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army ring their bells in front of their stores?
Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote.'Recently we asked a local TARGET store to be a proud sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event. We received the following reply from the local TARGET management: ' Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education.' So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general, do not meet their donation criteria, then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance. As a follow-up, I E-mailed the TARGET U.S. Corporate Headquarters and their response was the same. That's their national policy. Then I looked into the company further. They will not allow the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their stores.. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would not allow families of employees who were called up for active duty to continue their insurance coverage while they were on military service.. Then as I dig further, TARGET is a French-owned corporation. Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET cannot support American Veterans, then why should my family and I support their stores by spending our hard earned American dollars! And, have their profits sent to France

Without the American Vets, where would France be today? 'They, most likely would be speaking German and trading in Deutsch Marks'.
sincerely, Dick Forrey Veterans Helping Veterans.

MCCW TUESDAY OOPS WEDNESDAY

NEW RULE IN WALDEN WORLD: DON'T CUSS ME!

Where do people get the idea that folks can cuss at me and and me not take it personally or cuss you back. Now if you cuss me and I've done something wrong to you and it is one of the recognized wrongs in Walden World then I'm probably going to apologize but if it's not a recognized wrong in Walden World then be prepared!

Cussing is something I do not like to do and I try not to do. I think it is a weakness of a person. Weak vocabulary, weak character, and weak patience. Now if you bring me to cuss then "my bad", but that don't mean that there won't be collateral damage. Be prepared!

With that said I must say this, "thy word hath I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my spirit be pleasing to you LORD."

Sorry, LORD. Let's please not cuss but if you do, please don't cuss me or provoke me to that low level of action.

It has to be said by some one...

Starner Jones, MD

I am a seventh generation Mississippian and wanted to come back here after going somewhere else for college and medical school. My extracurricular interests are golf, hunting, fishing and college football.
.
This should be on the front page of every newspaper in America —in large bold letters. This was a "letter to the editor" in August 29th Jackson , MS newspaper.
.
Dear Sirs:
"During my last night's shift in the ER, I had the pleasure of evaluating a patient with a shiny new gold tooth, multiple elaborate tattoos, a very expensive brand of tennis shoes and a new cellular telephone equipped with her favorite R&B tune for a ring tone. Glancing over the chart, one could not help noticing her payer status: Medicaid. She smokes more than one costly pack of cigarettes every day and, somehow, still has money to buy beer. And our Congress expects me to pay for this woman's health care? Our nation's health care crisis is not a shortage of quality hospitals, doctors or nurses. It is a crisis of culture — a culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on vices while refusing to take care of one's self or, heaven forbid, purchase health insurance. A culture that thinks "I can do whatever I want to because someone else will always take care of me". Life is really not that hard. Most of us reap what we sow.
.
Don't you agree?

STARNER JONES, MD Jackson , MS
????? right!

MMCW

MY CORNER OF CYBER WORLD

NEW RULE: It will be against WALDEN WORLD rules to do anything else to upset the art of the game of " College football." It is OK to screw up PROFESSIONAL BALL all you want but DO NOT MESS WITH COLLEGE BALL.

Instant replay, daaaaa, the game of college football used to be a beautiful, artful thing. There wasn't any of this "you made a mistake let's check to see if you saw what you think you saw." The referees are a part of the game! Just like the weather, injuries, and stupid coaches decisions. Gone are the days of real football. Next thing you know we'll have a new rule called the "DO OVER RULE." If you miss a field goal you get a "DO OVER." Make a stupid decision, OK coach take a "DO OVER." Some body slips and falls or the ball slips out of someone grip, sorry didn't mean for that to happen I call "DO OVER."

How about that throwing the ball away when you are out of the tackle box? GOOD GRIEF! Quarterbacks may be important and we all want them to stay healthy but are they playing the game too. We tell defensive lineman "now now don't hit the quarterback." PLEASE!! This is not practice. This is the game. Next thing folks will do is make linemen wear weights so they all weight the same. We'll call this "the your guys are bigger than my guys rule" or "your guys are faster than my guys rule."

GOOD GRIEF!!! It is getting where if you really want to see a good game that has few excuses that are generated by folk outside the game you have to go to the corner lot where your neighbor hood is playing my neighbor hood.

Veterans Day - a legal holiday observed in commemoration of the end of hostilities in 1918 and 1945.

VETERAN - A person who has long time experience in the armed forces.

I'm not a "vet" but I'm well represented by my family. My uncle Hubert Anglin was in the Navy in the Pacific during WWII. He survived that war. My uncle Wendall Anglin was Airborne Army "parachuter" in Europe during WWII. He survived. My Uncle Wayburn Anglin was in the Army in Europe during WWII. He didn't make it home... died in a forest in Germany. My Dad was in the Army in Europe during WWII. He Drove in the "Red Ball Express."

I'm proud of my family that were a part of the American forces. Very proud, but there are others that make me stand in honored of the Veterans in my life.

The war that effected me most was the Vietnam War. It was my time, the time when I was young and had friends there and some didn't make it home. Most did make it back but they all left something in that country. It brings tears to my eyes and sadness to my soul to think about Vietnam. Perhaps I should had gone to Nam but I didn't because my draft number was 126. The year of my draft group the draft went through 123. Didn't bother me back then because no one wanted to go to Nam, well, no one with any sense. It was when I got to college and was playing football that I met a Sargent in ROTC that told me stories, real stories of what was really happening in Vietnam. From then on I've felt like I was suppose to go with my friends, that I might have let one of them down by not being there with them.

When I see how war has affected so many that made that journey into the face of death I am so thankful, but i hurt for them too. We who have not experience the sacrifice and hurt that war brands on lives cannot honor Vets enough.

It bothers me today that our nation has taken advantage of our armed forces with out repaying Vets for what they give willingly. Make God for us for not honoring these folk more and repaying them in every way available.

God bless the Veterans of the United States of America.

My Corner of Cyber World
MCCW
New rule of my choosing because it is my corner of cyber world.
Law: Do what you are told to do.
Consequence for not complying: the employee will lick the stripes on the highway north from the corporation limits of Ridgeland MS to Canton MS beginning at 5:38 each Saturday morning until compliance is met.
Stupid people that get certified to be a teacher should teach students effectively and follow instructions given by an administrator who has more training and is responsible for the goings on of the school or get the heck out of the school. To these folk, their job is a pay check and nothing else.
So to those three drawing a pay check at my school, get the heck out!
WHO AM I?
I'VE BEEN INSPIRED TO SHARE SOME OF THE LIFE OF THE "SCREWYISH" PERSON I KNOW. ME SO FOR A WHILE BESIDES MY REGULAR STUFF I'M GONG TO SHARE SOME OF ME. IF THAT'S NOT OK THEN CHECK OUT THE HISTORY CHANNEL!
IT WON'T BE AS FUN OR SURELY REVELING BUT YOU WILL LEARN STUFF.
I was born at a very early age but don't remember to much about it. The first thing I remember is my front yard. Not much about it but I had a front yard. So first thing to share is special memories:
1. I remember my first kiss. I mean real kiss, not like kissing somebody good bye. I mean kissing somebody HELLO!. I was 15 and she was a year older than I was. I think I liked it so much I decided to make it a hobby, but to this day I am convinced that she kissed me. Oh Lord, I do believe that and I'm embarrassed to confess it cause you know guys like to ... well let's move on.
2. I remember the second kiss. I mean a real kiss not like a good night kiss. I was 16 and my hobby had not gone quiet as well as I had hoped. She was a cutie that I had known for a while. We had double dated and i had walked her to the house. We arrived at the steps and before I could thank her for a fun evening she jumped onto the second step and BAM! That's right my first "run baby run" kiss. To this day I don't remember whether or not I actually opened the door to the car or just went through the window.
3. I remember my first funeral. It was my Mom's dad, Pa. Several not so good memories from that funeral, actually I have no good memories from that.
4. I remember my hardest funeral of all. The funeral of my best "friend-dad", "Heavy" Malone. I've written about him before. For me the world was always better with him in it because i knew i could go to him and he would help. I missed spending time with him after he left our church because I thought I would bring bad memories to his mind. I never share with him about my depression and abuse. I thought he would think less of me. How stupid it that. I should have realized he was handling life better than I ever would. Maybe the saddest day of my life. Makes me cry.
5. I remember my first date with an angel. Chinese food and lots of laughs. WOW!
6. I remember standing over my daughters each at a single point in their early lives when I gave them back to God and began to pray for their husbands.
7. I remember sitting by my daughters beds when they opened their lives to Christ and became Christians. Both at the age of 6 and 6 1/2 years of age. WOW! I was there, I was there!
8. I remember my first car. 60 Chevy Impala, glass all the way around and enough knobs that I would have no problem disguising a microphones so I could record my dates and what they would say about me.
9. I remember my first dog, a fox terrier named Pogo. When I got him he had seed ticks on his face so bad that when I got them off the hair on his face and head fell out. He was a great great dog. He died my freshman year in college from cancer. He had been my best friend for a long time.
10. I remember a four down stand on the one yard line when we kept a team from scoring and i made 3 of the tackles. WOW it was neat!

FAIR IS FAIR, RIGHT?

Seems to me that this world we live in has a slanted view of fairness.

Is it fair that the ugly girls don't get as many dates as the pretty cheer leader types? Well... ?

Is it fair that some folk are short and can't see over the crowds? Well... I'm 6'4".

Is it fair that some folk can sing like an angel and then there are those like me?

Is it fair that you were dropped on your head when you were a baby? Well ... it might explain a few things.

Kids today think that unless things are the way they believe they should be then "it's unfair." If one person gets a larger piece of cake than the only it's unfair. Unless you treat me with the respect you give others then you are being unfair. Unless you give me what you give others, despite me not working as long, as hard or as productive you are unfair.

I have one thing to tell those of the world that think things are unfair. There is no such thing as "fair." Nothing in this world is fair, but there is justice. I see things as just and deal with things that way. Keep in mind that there is a lot of injustice in the world.

Tuesday MCCW on Wednesday

Sorry missed the regular MCCW yesterday so today I catch up.

Pregnant children are not pregnant by accident.

I remember hearing that in the "old" days the TV stations would announce "It's 9:00, Do you know where your children are?" Sounds funny but not to long ago a 13 year old wasn't allowed to go out by themselves. Not even on a Halloween night. Today they can pretty much go and do what ever and when ever they want. Parents are afraid that their children are going to miss out on something. Consider the heart ack and problems created when a "child" comes up "prego." Where do you go? What do you do?

Bethany Children Services is a great place to start when if you find yourself in that situation. Great folks that will help you make good decisions. There are other organizations but abortion is not an option. Sorry to say most that find themselves in that situation never consider adoption but also never consider the child, the child having the child or the child being had.

The world is full on children that have children but can't take care of the child or themselves. Therefore, Stop!

Stop not taking care of your children. Teach them to be responsible for their actions. Teach them to do what is right, NO SEX TILL MARRIAGE! Stop letting them go and do what the want to when they want to. Parents, you are in charge. Children are gong to be children. They do "childish" things! Good grief! Who is the adult here? Think of the damage you allow to happen to society. Think of the affect all these children have on all of our lives. Not having a father, being raised by the grand mother, the drain on our economy, the sacrifice of the educational process.

Stop! thinking of yourself and think of your children and the rest of us on this planet.

This is how I see it. If you can't control your children, instead of you getting money from the government you pay. Instead of you staying at home and the schools baby sitting your child, you pay someone else to take care of you children. I know it's a radical idea but, the schools are for educating your child and not for baby sitting or preventing you from having your morning nap interrupted.

A lot of people have problems. Being pregnant doesn't have to be one of them but, be real.

Who are you calling FAT!
Poor Jessica Simpson. People are making fun of her weight. Even in the animation of fox football. GOOD GRIEF!!!! The Girl is a fox! Not much of an actress but quiet a looker. If she had been caught in a sexual situation with young boys that would be one thing, but her weight???? Please! Where do people get off making fun of fat folks?? If you had any idea of why some folk are fat then you might shut your mouth!
As a child you eat what is put in front of you. It makes no difference that your parents are throwing down food providing a wonderful example, right? They give you food as a child to keep your mouth shut, to keep you occupied and out of their hair and when you get old enough they tell you if you want it cook it yourself. So you do, you fix what you want, all you want and you eat all you want. Now I don't hear any one calling your parents "fat child's parents."
Maybe some one has diabetes and are on medication to treat the dangerous disease. Did you ever think that the side effects for nearly all the meds is weight gain? Did you know that it is nearly impossible to loose weight while of insulin?! Did you think diabetics should wear a sign saying I'm fat because I'm a diabetic and take medicine to keep me from falling down dead.
Ever been depressed and just grabbed a Cookie to help you feel better? It's called "emotional eating" and a lot of people suffer from it. It helps some people with some relief from the disease of depression but the side effect is "fat." Considering another side effect for depression is "suicide" a few pound probably is OK.
So the next time you want to make fun of some one's weight consider the fight in life, their many fights. You aren't helping the problem with your mouth.
If you can't hold your tongue then consider this, I make carry some weight but I can maybe loose some weight. You are 'UGLY" and I don't think you can fix that.

Topic: The Home
What is the responsibilities of the home? Ever thought about it? Yea, I'm talking about education again but really more than that. How about "yea" and "naw." Shouldn't it be a responsibility for the parent to teach a child to say yes, no or yes sir, no sir? Never mind that the job that a young person is interviewing for is in the balance, just the image a child presents is important. Yes it is the responsibility of the family to train their child.
Let's just cut to the chance. You guess it, list time.
Things that a family is responsible for for children:
1. Provide meals for a child.
2. Provide a place to sleep and do home work.
3.Provide materials for the child for school.
4. Provide transportation for a child to school and I don't mean their own car.
5. Provide the basic training that leads to respect for authorities.
6. Provide discipline to guide to self control.
7. Provide proper fitting clothes.
8. Provide proper preventive measure to keep a child below the age of 18 from getting tattoos that are ugly as mud or body piercing of a heathen manner.
9. Provide proper medical care.
10. Provide proper mental care.
11. Provide a good example for your child to follow after.
Now if a family can't do these things then:
1. Get yourself fixed!
2. Get yourself fixed!!
3. Stay away from people who are not fixed!!!
The problem in public school is not the terrible teachers, there are some, not the lack of materials, not the lack of support from the community, but the failure of the family to train the children and hold them accountable for their behavior. Where we in this state are failing is by basing the funding for public school on the number of student in attendance, the classroom each day. This forces the school districts to try to keep complacent, rude, disrespectful, defiant children in the classrooms with students that want an education. This is preventing the very best education for each child. Schools are being asked to do the job of the parents, cops and mental medical portion of society.
Anyway you look at it, the child looses and those of us that meet our responsibilities with our children loose.

A FRIEND IS A FRIEND FOR EVER...

There are friends and then there are friends. I have strong feelings about friendship. I think it is one of those things that is sacred, like blood-brothers. I have had few friends in my life. Those people that you can count on no matter the situation, the people that you can tell things to and not have to wonder if they are going to spread the word to every village and farm, those people that you ugly cry about when they die. I also believe that I can be a friend to a person and they not be a friend to me. Now I have had that situation before and expect I'll have people I consider to be their friend again. It may be that they don't feel as strongly about a person being their friend as I do but that's OK.

My best friend is a woman known as Libby. I would do anything for her and expect nothing in return. I would tell her anything and expect her to keep my secrets. My BFFL Libby, wow.

I have another friend that is a little boy named Randi. He is my adopted son. He has blonde hair and likes to play and hang his head out the window. I would do anything for Rani because he loves me unconditionally and has been there for me many times. He is there when I cry and he listens to every word I say. He has never put me down. We are very close.

I'd like to share some pictures of friendship.

My friend, Randi, and I watch a little Tube together.

My friend Libby soaking up the rays and broadening the mind. With Southern Living??

My friend Libby. Still on the beach!

Here are some examples of friends. I don't know them personally but it only takes a glance to see that these to are best buddies.

Now that's a friend!

"MY LITTLE CORNER OF THE CYBER WORLD"
Today I am launching a new feature to Walden's World. I'm declaring it as My little Corner of Cyber World or MCCW. I came to an awareness that if you are reading this you were invited not demanded to come in and enjoy, get mad at, or be disgusted at what you read. No hold barred on my part and on yours either if you decide to comment but don't feel you have to unveil you real opinion.
OK, today's MCCW topic is texting while driving. Let be real about texting, can we? First, texting is of the devil because it cost money. I mean you already have a contract for your cell phone and now they want you to pay for texting. Please! why should I keep paying out for text when i can make a call???! Second, who would ever create something that would cause embarrassment for those of us that can't SPELL! Oh, sure now I have to learn that short hand text stuff. Good Grief!!!! Third, it's dangerous...
if you looked carefully you can see it makes you drive from the wrong side of the car.

FRIDAY VIDEO!

First I must apologize #1 for not blogging any more than I have but things have been busy. Second I must apologize #2. The incoming videos have been either to political or just not worth the sharing. So with that in mind I'd like to share so "shorties." (Pictures and Statements).

Statements: "and that's how the fight started"

#1 One year, a husband decided to buy his mother-in-law a Cemetery plot as a Christmas gift.

The next year, he didn't buy her a gift. When she asked him why, he replied, "Well, you still haven't used the gift I bought you last year!"

And that's how the fight started.
#2 My wife walked into the den & asked "What's on the TV?" I I replied "Dust"

And that's how the fight started.
#3 A woman is standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror.

She is not happy with what she sees and says to her husband, 'I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.

'The husband replies, 'Your eyesight's damn near perfect.'

And that's how the fight started.
#4 My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, 'I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 200 in about 3 seconds. I bought her a scale.

And that's how the fight started.
#5 I asked my wife, 'Where do you want to go for our anniversary?' It warmed my heart to see her face melt in sweet appreciation.

'Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!' she said.

So I suggested, 'How about the kitchen?'

And that's how the fight started.
#6 I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first. 'I'll have the strip steak, medium rare, please.' He said, 'Aren't you worried about the mad cow?' 'Nah, she can order for herself.' And that's how the fight started.

OK, a shortie picture of Spider Kid

Sorry but it just seems right to repeat this. shoot.

SALUTE!
Salute to those that make a difference!
Today I salute Ms. Payne, my 11th grade English teacher. Wonderful lady who care for me and every other student she ever had. She always started class with her own style commentary of something happening around "us." Once she talked about Janis Joplin, a very cool singer from my "day." One of my favorites noted for her profanity and filthy mouth, but a groovy singer. Ms. Payne always place an importance on reading and had a regular monthly sale of books that she would order. It was encouraging to me to hear her say something good about me buying books. I think she thought I was actually reading them. Well, I actually was trying to read but I was having problems with reading. Through my coach, Coach Bob Stevens, and Ms. Payne i had some tests made and discovered that one of my eyes was a little screwy. One eye was looking at the line I was reading while the other was about half a line down, therefore making it difficult to concentrate and made me feel like a dog on a summer afternoon looking for the shade tree to nap under. It it hadn't been for Ms. Payne I might never had found the love I have for reading and did as well as I did in high school and went on to be the only person in my family to go to college.
Ms. Payne is one of those rare teachers that make you more than you are because she believes you are and helps you believe you are.
I love Ms. Payne. Thank you Ms. Payne.
SALUTE!!! TO MS. PAYNE.

Are we lost or what?
.
The WORD of God tells us that we should PRAY always. Well, it does say that although it really means we should be aware of GOD every moment of life. Prayer is a part of many of our most sacred traditions. Saying the blessing before eating a meal teaches our children to recognize God as our supplier. So many more traditions are painted by the sacred Christian act of prayer but now, but now! BUT NOW WHAT!!!
.
In 1952 President Truman established one day a year as a National Day of Prayer.
In 1988, President Reagan designated the first Thursday in May of each year as the National Day of Prayer. This year however, President Obama, decided to cancel the ceremony at the White House not wanting to offend anyone. Presidential candidate Barack Obama declared the USA was no longer a Christian nation.
Now see if you can wrap your brain around this: On September 25, 2009 from 4am until 7pm, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion will be held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House. They are expecting over 50,000 muslims that day in DC. The website (yes, there is a very informative website) is: www..islamoncapitolhill.com Pay particular attention to the very bottom of the page: "OUR TIME HAS COME". Could it be that the REAL agenda of the President is becoming more plain? The evidence is there.

The scripture verse in 2 Chronicles 7:14 says "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." ..... this becomes more important each day.
Well, I've never been in politics but I guess the time to stand up is now.
IF NOT NOW WHEN!
.
My new question to ponder is "WHY?"
